About
Bridging 12 years of industry experience with rigorous academic research to shape the next generation of industrial engineers.
I am a Professor and serve as Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering at SIUE. My work spans human-centered AI, medical image analysis, biomechanics, and engineering education — with a commitment to developing accessible, data-driven technologies that bridge theory and real-world application. I have also taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Illinois Springfield.
Education
Research
Interdisciplinary work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, human motion, and engineering education innovation.
Developing accessible, machine-learning-driven tools for ASD screening using gait analysis and video pose estimation — with a focus on underserved communities. Funded by NIH, NSF, and SIU System grants.
Visit iGait App →NSF-funded Vicon motion capture lab with force plates and 24-channel analog systems for analyzing human gait, movement disorders, and performance in clinical and research contexts.
Designing flipped classroom models, AI-enhanced competency-based curricula, and cross-institutional faculty development programs that connect theory to industry practice.
Recognition
Teaching
Undergraduate through graduate — blending analytical rigor with hands-on, AI-enhanced, project-driven learning.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning, active engagement, and real-world application. I use the flipped classroom model — shifting lectures outside class time to devote in-person sessions to discussion, problem-solving, and collaborative activities. This approach consistently improves student understanding, confidence, and retention.
